Abstract
The article discusses the association between child maltreatment and adolescent offending in Australia. A survey of young people in juvenile justice detention in New South Wales is highlighted which revealed that 57 percent of young men and 81 percent of young women have experienced abuse and neglect. A justice model for dealing with juvenile offenders is described.
