Summary of legal challenges to student unionism over the past 25 years - current Federal Government's dislike of compulsory student unionism - introduction of Higher Education Support Amendment (Abolition of Compulsory Up-front Student Union Fees) Bill 2003 - whether compulsory student unionism breaches s 47 of the Trade Practices Act - if so, should the Australian Consumer and Competition Commission (ACCC) be notified - analysis of the benefits claimed to flow from compulsory student unionism.
