This book contains detailed case studies of small island tourism in the South Pacific. The emphasis throughout the book is on understanding the social processes whereby Pacific Islanders interact with tourism and, in turn, shape the character of tourism in the region. Issues concerning ecotourism, tourism entrepreneurship, the relationship of indigenous cultures with those of the tourists, and local control of tourism development are examined.
