Preterm birth is the major cause of neonatal death. Multiple unmet needs in women over a long period of time cause preterm births. Group-based antenatal education aimed at health optimisation during pregnancy was effective in engaging with Thai women. Feminist Action Research was the research methodology that was applied to work with sixteen women in groups. Data were collected by one-on-one interviews, group-based discussion and reflective journal. All the women improved their holistic health; no woman had a baby after less than 35 weeks gestation. The women expressed satisfaction with their relationship with their midwife and with the groups.
