Abstract
The Aiken Attitude to Mathematics Scale was administered to 430 adult students enrolled in a tertiary preparation program. The factorial validity of the scale was investigated by exploratory factor analysis using principal axis technique with varimax rotation. Two factors (Enjoyment and Value) were extracted with high reliabilites, contrary to Aiken's four factors (Enjoyment, Motivation, Importance, and Freedom from Fear). The two-dimensional structure for Aiken's 1979 scale is similar to the structure of Aiken's 1974 scale.
