Peer Reviewed

This paper reports on an exploratory study of second-year university students undertaking one of more than 20 tourism degrees currently offered by Australian universities. The study was conducted in late 1994 to identify the range of employment opportunities available in tourism industries and to investigate the particular sectors and departments within these industries about which students require career information. It attempts to identify whether, and to what extent, current Australian information on tourism career opportunities for graduates is deficient. The study also provides guidelines for further research on sectors of tourism industries not investigated in this study, and examples of the types of information most needed in career guides for tourism graduates.
