School administrators, computer co-ordinators and even classroom teachers are being asked to determine whether their school should invest in a Learning Management System (LMS). Many know little about the area, their technical skills vary widely and most are unable to tell the LMS sales people what they want, let alone negotiate their way through to the best deal. In this presentation the implementation issues of Learning Management Systems will be outlined. The decision as to whether an LMS would benefit a school is a complex one and this presentation will attempt to clarify that decision. By bringing much of the current literature together and illustrating these findings using a specific example, we illustrate the fundamental factors that emerge when determining whether a LMS be advantageous in any given school environment.
