The study was aimed to investigate and evaluate the cross-cultural management issues in Hong Kong’s construction industry, with a particular focus on how different cross-border management models could influence the process of intercultural learning for construction professionals. Three case studies of MNEs in Hong Kong operated under the models of Decentralized federation, co-ordinated federation and Centralized hub, were conducted. The findings demonstrate that strengths and weaknesses exist in the development of the participants’ intercultural competence. With the globalization of the construction sector, the development of transferable skills and intercultural competence is critical for the new generation of construction professionals.
